This year’s London AWS Summit brought together the tech community to connect, collaborate and learn more about the leading cloud platform. And what an insightful conference it was! With a day packed with inspiring sessions, and an exhibition area filled with some of our favourite brands, it was a day to remember. For many, as it’s rumoured that more than 12,000 people attended this year’s summit to check out the latest AWS developments.
We were delighted to participate and showcase one of our recent projects in the innovation area. And this year, we showcased Blackout Technologies.
Blackout's founders came to Somo after three other companies told them their product couldn’t be built using today’s platforms. But we found a way.
They wanted to solve one of the biggest issues faced by modern schools and workplaces – the unauthorised use of mobile phones. Blackout is an innovative system to regulate the use of smart devices in the workplace or other areas such as schools or colleges.
The technology protects sensitive corporate information by restricting unauthorised functionality on smart devices, including encrypted messaging and social media, replicating existing controls on other workplace devices, such as computer terminals.
By limiting smart device functionality in the workplace or education locations, it can minimise distractions at work or schools.
The product is now at a test pilot phase with a major educational establishment.
